195 - Any Other Day

July 25, 2010

Her due date had come and gone and there was still no sign of Lily arriving any time soon, only proved that her daughter was favoring her father’s stubborn disposition already.

She had thought for sure she was coming when they were in Calgary. She drove Jon so crazy with things, she just had to get done in Montreal that he agreed to let her, Nicole, and Cliff go on ahead of him. But no, that nesting phase was short-lived and over by the time they needed to be in Toronto for a two-night show. By then, all she wanted to do was sleep, and she did straight through to Louisville and Foxboro.

Sighing, she tipped back her head and tried to let the hot, pulsating water running down her naked body to quiet her mind. Even if it was just for a few minutes. She had a full day ahead of her. Washing and sorting through all the baby gifts that had been delivered while they were gone, not to mention writing a dozen thank-you notes for them. Lily’s closet needed to be organized to make room for the new stuff. Jon had that stupid photo op for the greatest hits album then they had another appointment with Dr. Cummings. She’d planned on demanding Dr. Cummings give her something to get this baby pushing train started.

“Starting without me?” he asked.

“Snooze you lose.”

“Anything yet?” He stepped in front of her.

“Nope.” She winced when his fingers grazed her nipples. “Uh-huh, those are not for you any longer.”

“Guess I’m willing to share, for now.”

Her green eyes raked down his body. Disheveled bedhead and morning breath. The man still oozed sexy. “I hear a good orgasm is a sure way to jump start things. Think ya can take care of that for me?”

Turning her, he pulled her flush with his body so she could feel his arousal. “I think I can muster up a couple fer ya.”

“Mm good.” she breathed as he lavished her neck with open-mouthed kissing. The last thing she was feeling was sexy, but the feel of his cool lips mixed with the warmth of the water had her wanting more.

“How do you want it?” His whiskey voice tinged her ears. “Tongue?” the flat of his tongue teased that spot behind her ear. “Fingers?” his hand slipped between her thighs. “Or this?” he pressed his cock into the crease of her ass.

Arms braced on the wall in front of her, she tossed her long, wet hair to the side and batted her eyes back at him. “One of each, please and thank you.”

With a wildness in his eyes to match his carnal smirk, he dropped to his knees. She’d been hard-wired for days. The mere wisp of a hot summer night's breeze would get her off, so when his soft lips complimented his eager tongue, her hips involuntarily moved feverishly against his mouth.

“Jon...” breathy and barely audible, she cried out his name.

“That’s one.” His voice was a throaty whisper of words as he nestled between her legs.

Already on the cusp, her knees buckled as he pushed not one, but two fingers inside her. Breaths forced out, in short, sharp gasps as each calloused pad pumped desperately in and out, while his tongue devoured every crevice, bringing her body to a heated frenzy again.

“That’s it, Crash, ride my tongue,” he coaxed her to move her hips.

“Don’t! Stop.” she screamed as the intensity of her climax heightened and, with one flick of his tongue over her sensitive nub, the sensual shock she sought ripped through her for the second time.

As the last ripples and shudders slowly subsided, Jon rose from his knees and pulled her tight against him. “Think you can you handle number three?”

“Can you?” Arching into him, she braced her arms on the wall once again.

Accepting her challenge, he adjusted lower to accommodate their height difference. One hand firmly gripping her hip, he didn’t expect to be dazed with the mixture of emotions as he watched his cock slowly disappear inside her. Warm and tight and barely enough room, he withdrew just as slowly as he entered. Over and over. He could hear his heart pound and the blood pulse between his ears with every thrust.

Jesus, her untamed growling had him wanting to pound into her, but he couldn’t. Instead, his strong hands kneaded her cheeks, squeezing harder until his cock throbbed and his balls tightened. Gritting his teeth, he shut his eyes and thrusted inward one last time. He felt her vice around him and together they enjoyed the exquisite release between mutual heavy breaths and groans that resonated around the tiled walls.

Wrapping her in his arms, he pulled her away for the cooling water. Their breathing still slowing back to normal. He nestled his chin in the crook of her neck. “Three.”

“I swear, if that doesn’t start something, nothing will.”

Squeezing her tightly, he turned off the water, ushered her out of the shower, and handed her a towel. “Guess we’ll find out later.”

“Are you going to meet me there, or are you coming home first?”

“I better be back by then. I can’t stand these fucking things.”

Tossing her towel over the hook, she slipped the maxi dress over her head. “Just remember what we just did, and you’ll be fine.”

“Sure, now I’ll have a stiff dick the whole time.” He pulled his black tee-shirt over his head. “She may think she gave it to me.”

She better keep her grimy paws off of you.”

After his little display of affection in Saratoga, Ari had developed quite the little jealous streak. It was something he’d never seen her react to, ever, and frankly, he found it extremely sexy to watch. Stepping in front of her, he caged her against the vanity where she’d been leaning. “Jealous much?”

“Maybe I should come.” She pushed his arms away and walked into the other room. “Then we can go right from the photoshoot to Riverview.”

“You will do no such thing.”

“But.”

“But nothing,” he chased after her. “Besides, you need to be here when Romey gets home.”

“Nice try. I think Matt will be okay with letting him stay a bit longer till we get home. Jesse is still at camp, Stephanie is with Dorothea and Jake is….” Her shoulders fell with disappointment when she realized that Jake had stayed home instead of going to sleep at Matt’s.

“See, you need to stay home.”

“Fine,” she poked his chest, “but you better not come home with her smell all over you.”

A wicked grin crept across his face as he glanced at his watch. “I got time for a one more quick tumble if you want to leave your smell all over me.”

She thought for a moment. She could easily suck him off in the minutes they had left. Leave her scent, her mark. Geez Louise, what’s gotten into her lately? Hormones, that’s what. They were making her do and say some crazy shit lately. It was time for this baby to be born or she would not be responsible for her actions.

Sighing, she dropped her head against his chest. “Sorry. I really need this baby out of me. She is turning me into a crazy woman.”

“Did you hear that, Lily bug?” He squatted and pressed a kiss to her belly. “Your Mama just admitted to being crazy.”

Grunting, she playfully smacked the top of his head and left him kneeling as she waddled out the door.

Trying to go back to sleep after Jon left was a moot point, for many reasons. For one, the dull, nagging backache that she had from their morning escapade wouldn’t allow her to get comfortable and two, she knew the second her eyes closed, her thoughts would be consumed with some gorgeous, skinny, super model fawning all over her husband and three, she had a million and one things she needed to get done.

Once the car arrived, she handed him his travel mug of coffee and shooed him on his merry way, but not without a marking first. Then, with the house free of him, the kids, and a dog, she would use the time wisely. Yes, Jake was still there, but you never knew what kind of day it would be. Some days, she was the cool lady who liked videos games and sports and others she was the devil spawn who was married to his father. Either way, she respected his feelings.

Not wasting any time, she started with the one thing she procrastinated the most her ever-growing inbox. It didn’t help she’d been neglecting it for the last two weeks. She had hired Luc to renovate the loft and trusted him enough to do with it what he wanted, but he still checked in with her and she needed to see if there was anything that needed her attention. Inbox cleaned, she started a wash of all the new baby clothes and headed upstairs to make room for them. Jon had told her over and over to let Lidia handle stuff like that, but she actually enjoyed doing it herself.

Nursery, cleaned and organized, she reached for her phone for a weekly catch-up call to Max. They got the day-to-day business out of the way first; payroll, invoices, then they talked at great lengths about the few upcoming parties they had booked, bands wanting to play on their open mic nights, and last, the menu changes Gabriel had wanted to try. By the time they hung up and all that talk about food, she had the sudden urge to bake and bake and bake. Before she realized it, she had made six batches of her favorite oatmeal raisin cookies. Who was going to eat them all? She had no clue.

Last batch out of the oven, she looked around and could not believe the mess she had made.

Gabriel would freak-the-fuck-out if he saw this.

Laughing out loud, she thought, my kitchen, my rules. Licking her fingers, she tossed the dishrag over her shoulder and started to clean. Back and forth, she waddled from the kitchen to the pantry, carrying containers and nibbling on the finished product.

“Ooooh, you like those, don’t you?” She smoothed her hand over her belly. “Okay, Mommy will have one more, but you can’t tell Daddy. He’ll just tell me they will go to my ass.”

Breaking off another piece, she popped it into her mouth. There was nothing like homemade cookies right out of the oven, soft and warm, heaven on the tongue. Snapping the cover on the last plastic container, she carried the stack of cookie sheets over to the sink.

“Oww!” Bracing her hands on the sink, she winced as a second twinge spread across her abdomen. “On second thought, maybe you don’t like them.”

Setting the remaining half of the cookie on the rack, she continued. Washing cookie sheet after cookie sheet, she didn’t know what possessed her to bake so many batches. Once she’d finished with cleaning up, she’d ask Jake if he would take a ride and deliver some to Carol and Dez. Maybe they could even stop in town for some lunch. It had been a good day, after all.

Jake heard the crash from all the way down the hall and came running into the kitchen. Glad ware containers were scattered all over the floor, and his stepmother was hunched over, her knuckles white from gripping the island counter, and a puddle of water surrounded her.

“What the…. Ari, are you okay?”

“Oh my God, Jake, I think my water just broke.”

Taking a few moments, he processed what she had just said to him. He took two steps towards her and stopped dead in his tracks.

“Oh, shit! Whadda… I… Who do I….” Without waiting for her to answer, he turned for the small alcove off the kitchen.

“Noooo!” she yelled at him. Part in fear, part in pain. “Don’t. Leave. Me.”

“But… I… have…. need… to grab the phone. Mine’s in the living room.”

“Mine’s over there next to the coffee machine.” She pointed.

While he went to get her phone, she took a deep breath. She tried to stand. “Lily, baby,” she whispered softly. “Please, baby girl, listen to Mommy. You can’t come yet. Daddy needs to be here.”

Sitting at the bar, Jon checked his watch again and wished there was more than water in his glass.

Two fucking hours

That’s how long they’d been at it already, and they still weren’t done. And then they wondered why he hated doing photoshoots. They’d spend more time sitting around doing nothing. I mean, really, how long does it take to snap a few photos?

Damn photographers, just snap the frigging pictures and be done with it. But no, it was always something; the lighting would be better over here, maybe sitting like this. Can you point your nose this way a little bit more or how about we try this?

How bout I shove my size ten boot up your ass.

They were waiting for the female model. He couldn’t remember her name, to change into one of the Greatest Hits shirts. At first, they wanted him to put it on. Yeah, right?

“Um, Jon, you really need to take this.” Jeanie came running across the room with his phone in her hand. “It’s Jake.”

Jon flew off the bar stool and grabbed the phone. If Jake was calling, something was wrong. Maybe he should’ve let Ari come with him. He could hear the frantic tone in Jake’s voice before the phone even reached his ear. The boy was trying to explain what had happened, what was going on now, and what he needed.

Finally, able to get him to stop talking for a minute, Jon asked him to hold on, so he could rattle off a list of commands for Jeanie who’d been standing at the ready for them. His attention back to his worried son, he calmed him enough so he could explain what to do.

“Jakey, I’m counting on you. Help is on the way. Now let me talk to Ari, while you go open the gates and the door.”

“Okay.”

“And Jake…”

“Yeah, Dad.”

“You did good.”

“Thanks.” Jake passed the phone to a now relatively calm Ari. She was still standing in the middle of a puddle, but she managed to straighten herself up. “I’m going to open the door.” he said.

“Okay, sweetie.” She gave him a reassuring smile.

“Guess I got the job done.”

His ego was feeling mighty boisterous right about now. For a weekthey’d been trying everything under the sun to bring on labor. There was no doubt in his cocky little mind those three orgasms he’d given her this morning did the trick.

“Can we stroke your ego later and just get your ass home?”

“Just waiting on the car. Jeanie’s on the phone with 911 now.”

“911? Jon, I’m having a baby, not a heart attack.”

“They’ll get there quicker.”

“Right.”

“How you doin? You seem pretty calm.”

“I’m oh-kay. Freaked me the fuck out at first. I think I might have scared Jake.”

“Maybe a little, but he’s all good now. Tell me what happened.”

“After you left, I did a few things around the house, then decided to bake some cookies. I was just finishing cleaning up and BAM! a gush of water big enough to make Niagara Falls jealous erupted between my legs.”

“Now there’s a sight. Contractions?”

“One, maybe two earlier, but I didn’t put two and two together.”

“What do you mean earlier? When I was still home?”

“No. After you...” The light in her head went on. “After you left, I had a nagging backache. I just blamed it on our shower aerobics.”

“Pay attention to them now, will ya? And have Jake time them.”

“Okay. Are you in the car yet?"

“Yeah. Jeanie just got off the phone with Nicole. She’s heading to the hospital now. Matt and Ma too.”

“Jon, this isn’t a hoo-hah viewing event.”

He couldn’t contain his laughter. “They are just meeting you until I get there.”

“Distract me, would you?”

“You want me to sing, now, with Jeanie sitting right next to me.”

“Umm, yeah. Not the first time she’s heard you sing.”

“What do you sing at a time like this — Salt-n-Pepper?”

“Dude, if you start singing Push it, you will lose the body part that got me in this shape. Understand me?”

“Seriously, I don’t know what to sing at a time like this. The Tide is High, Muddy Waters, Hold On, I’m Coming?”

“Ari, I’m slapping him for you.” Jeanie yelled out.

“Tell her Thaaa…. oooooh, fuck meeeee.”

“What’s wrong?”

“Really, Jon? I’m in labor. What do you think's wrong?”

“Did you at least time it?”

“Nooo. I was kinda busy dealing with the pain. Or couldn’t you tell from my scream?”

He knew better than to say any more now. They had arrived at the heliport, so he’d have to hang up, anyway. “Any sign of Jake? We are at the chopper.”

“You’re hanging up?” He could hear the tinge of worry in her voice.

“Crash, I’m gonna have to.”

“Wait.” She pulled the phone away from her ear to listen. There were voices coming towards the kitchen. “I think they are here.” Three paramedics, one carrying some sort of box, two pushing a gurney, appeared in her kitchen. “It’s them.” She sighed in relief.

“Good. I Love you.”

“Just get here.”
